Welcome to the volunteer sign-up page for our Thanksgiving service. These are the biggest days of the year for us here at the Thurston County Food Bank. Thank you for supporting our work.
We have our largest service on Tuesday, November 26th. This is when we need a large number of volunteers to support a drive-through service for our clients. Please note that our service will be held on the St. Martins campus this year.
All volunteers and staff will be outside in the elements and will need to be dressed accordingly.
All jobs will require standing for long periods on cement.
Some jobs will require lifting 30-40 lbs
Restroom access is located up a flight of stairs from the service site.
Volunteering as a group? We require each volunteer to submit a volunteer application, but don't worry—it's pretty quick. If you want your group to work together, make sure everyone signs up for the same shift and job. We do not offer a group signup.
Volunteering with youth? We allow youth aged 12 and older to volunteer independently. Please have a parent or guardian digitally 'sign' the volunteer application for volunteers under the age of 18, using the parent/guardian's name. Please do not have minors sign up for Parking or Traffic shifts.
Want to volunteer on Thanksgiving? The Thurston County Food Bank is closed for Thanksgiving. We need help the Monday-Wednesday leading up to the holiday.
Job Descriptions - All of our volunteer roles will be supported by Thurston County Food Bank staff members.
DistributionTeam - Volunteers will load food onto tables and stage the items for the loading team to grab.
Loading Team - Volunteers will be directing clients through our pickup area and helping to load food into vehicles as needed.
Traffic Team- Volunteers will be stationed at key spots along our service line to help direct the flow of traffic.
Closer to the event day you will receive a separate email with instructions on where to park and the meeting location.
